Call for Summit Speakers


As the premier personal development event devoted exclusively to bid and proposal professionals, the APMP UK’s Skills Development Summit provides a unique opportunity to showcase the latest best practice, techniques and skills to this community.

We therefore invite you to share your skills, experience, insights and knowledge to enable others to realise their potential.

If you are an APMP member accredited to foundation, practitioner or professional level, you will earn 20 continuing education units towards maintaining accreditation status (10 for attending and 10 for presenting). Presenters are also eligible for a 10% discount on the price of delegate tickets.


We intend to create a balanced programme of topics and session formats relevant to the wide ranging needs of bid and proposal professionals. In keeping with the overall conference theme, each speaker is required to deliver at least one delegate skill or technique that participants can apply in practice. Each session should also allow a minimum of 15 minutes for audience discussion.

The organisers will look favourably on sessions which demonstrate innovation in the core disciplines of bid and proposal management.

Session Categories

Except for keynote addresses, delegates have the choice of attending one several sessions running simultaneously. Our members have shared that they would like more discussion and interaction so this year’s sessions will be of one hour’s duration, which includes a 15 minute audience Q&A/debating session.

Each session will fall broadly into one of the following categories:

Skills Development Workshops

We would like to hear from prospective speakers able to deliver one of the following: 


Skills development sessions providing delegates with competencies they can apply across all capture, proposal, bid and pursuit disciplines and topics.

These will be primarily practical and interactive sessions in which the facilitator will enable participants to hone their skills. Topics may be far-ranging, encompassing the myriad disciplines relevant to bid and proposal management. For example: bid qualification; risk management; proposal writing; graphics; storyboarding; internal and external reviews; presentation skills.

Sessions which focus on the skills required to achieve APMP practitioner and professional accreditation would be particularly welcomed.


These sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to gather information on specialist topics relevant to their work. Speakers may be drawn from outside the bid and proposal profession. Possibilities include presentation of survey findings (e.g. among procurement officers or other decision makers), analysis of regulatory changes affecting procurement or insights into business trends affecting the bid function.

Areas of interest (based on past delegate surveys) include:

    • Contrasting bid processes used in different industry sectors
    • Getting buy-in from the organisation for the relevance and profession of proposal management
    • Managing the bid process in decentralised or diffuse organisations
    • Capturing the cost of bidding and measuring success rates
    • Understanding the customer’s perspective
    • What makes a successful bid?


We would be interested to hear from practitioners who would be able to devote a whole session to an in-depth study of a bidding event - highlighting the challenges involved and how they were addressed, and analysing critical success factors and lessons learned.

Please note that the information you provide will be incorporated into the summit brochure to enable delegates to select which sessions they wish to attend. A character count (including spaces), is applied to ensure your write up fits into the summit brochure.

In general, the more engaging your session title, summary and biography, the more likely it is you will be selected to speak - and the more delegates will be attracted to your presentation.

The selection process will take into account the quality of your response, the likely popularity of your topic and our objective of providing a broad and balanced range of speakers. Applications received after the deadline may not be considered.
